Summary
As the Environmental Waste Coordinator, you will oversee incoming materials and wastes, ensure that the material is properly identified, characterized and profiled for further processing and disposal. The Environmental Waste Coordinator is the "gatekeeper" for compliance, ensuring that manifests and other shipping documents are created, accurate, signed and kept as a records for both internal compliance and for our clients. This role is vital in ensuring that our operations align with environmental regulations and contribute positively to the communities we serve.
Responsibilities
- Occasionally perform client site visits to assess materials or collect samples.
- Ensure that materials are profiled and approved for processing.
- Create manifests and other shipping documents for drivers.
- Maintain signed manifests as records of processing and disposal.
- Serve as primary contact for clients
- Prepare regulatory reports for permit compliance and other obligations.
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes affecting environmental practices.
- Assist with inventory, scheduling and dispatching of assets such as roll-off dumpsters, van trailers and tankers as needed.
- Frequent interaction with driver's, technicians and scalehouse operator.
- Approximately 70-30 split between working indoors in an office setting and outdoors in the material handling facility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in environmental management or waste management.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards, specifically RCRA and knowledge of Uniform Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste Manifests.
- Exceptional communication skills for engaging with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to self-start and prioritize one's assigned tasks and objectives.
- Experience with heavy equipment operation is preferred but not required.
- Strong analytical skills for assessing environmental impacts and developing solutions.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors, lift up 35 lbs, climb steps and ladders, walk on varied and uneven surfaces.
