Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for uncovering insights that drive meaningful change? At TPN, we're looking for a Senior Planner who gets the modern retail landscape and how best to reach people as they fluidly move between being consumers into shoppers, buyers and influencers across a wide range of CPG categories.
Our ideal candidate has experience in the grocery, drug, c-store and mass channels, with background working on CPG brands. This person should be skilled at both conducting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative research, and confident using syndicated tools like Gartner Insights, Simmons, IRI, Numerator, Nielsen, and others.
A key part of this role is the ability to uncover insights that inspire both creative ideas and effective activation plans. You’ll need the strategic expertise to develop everything from single marketing initiatives to full-year marketing calendars, balancing a mastery of tactical details with big-picture thinking.

Core Accountabilities
Develop Commerce Marketing Strategies:
- Collaborates with commerce marketing teams across CPG categories (e.g., cleaning, tobacco, alcohol) and channels (Mass, Grocery, Drug, Club, C-Store, etc.)
- Serves as a key planning resource for larger strategic commerce marketing initiatives to small quick-turn projects
- Leads Commerce Marketing planning initiatives from creating the guiding strategic framework that starts with engaging target shopper, to pulling that over-arching shopper strategy down to customer specific commerce marketing plans at all major retailers
- Identifies and integrates the right touchpoints and activations, whether digital or traditional, for the behavior our clients’ brand is looking to influence
- Utilizes planning tools and client-provided research to glean and integrate actionable insights and proof points into work
Foster Collaboration, Curiosity & Confidence:
- Supports Planning Director and VP on yearly planning and project-based work
- Builds strong working relationship with internal and external teams to become their trusted strategic planning partner
- Demonstrates ability to be coached and has a passion for learning
- Stay culturally curious, embracing and integrating trends and modern solutions into the work and how they do the work

- Ability to think in terms of the path to purchase for our clients’ brands with rigorous discipline
- Knowledge of Grocery, Specialty Grocery, Drug, Dollar, Club, Mass Merchant retail channels
- Strong communication and presentation skills

Requirements
- Years Experience: 3-5 years in Strategy Development and Planning roles
- Experience in Commerce/Shopper Marketing/Activation/Promotion Agency OR Client Marketing/Channel Management
- Education: Four-Year Degree (preferred but not required)
