Summary: Plans and directs accounting activities within a finance department or division of an organization by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll.
  • Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports.
  • Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures.
  • Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records.
  • Directs and participates in cost analyses and rate studies.
  • Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues.
  • Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
  • Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.
  • Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
  • Reviews financial statements with management personnel.
  • Directs the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls.
  • Establishes, or recommends to management, major corporate economic strategies, objectives, and policies for company; recommends modifications to existing corporate programs.
  • Directs preparation of reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Advises management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
  • Provides management with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities.
  • Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
  • Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions; Arranges for audits of company's accounts.
  • Directs preparation of reports required by regulatory agencies; establishes relations with banks and other financial institutions.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages a staff of three employees in the Accounting Department at White Deer, PA (plus two AR employees indirectly) and one employee at Riverside, MI location; is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Finance from an accredited university or college or equivalent and ten years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills
: MS Office and Accounting software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
CMA or CPA preferred.
