POSITION SUMMARY
This position performs routine skilled maintenance work and assists in repairing, inspecting, and surveillance of the collection system interceptors and infrastructure. Work is performed under direct supervision.
SALARY : MIN $17.04 per hour, MID $22.72 per hour commensurate with experience and skill set (includes an excellent benefit package with 24 days of PTO, employer paid health and life insurance, pension plan and more).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Monitors and performs routine preventive maintenance and repair to existing wastewater collection system infrastructure. Work may include but is not limited to cleaning and televising large diameter pipelines; performing confined space entries, walking pipelines, and documenting problems.
2. Repairs and / or replaces manhole covers, frames, and vaults.
3. Responsible for documentation and record-keeping activities of work performed and data entry into the computerized maintenance management system.
4. Performs industrial maintenance type duties to include rough carpentry, plumbing, welding, metal fabrication, and basic electrical repairs.
5. Observes, records, and reports all potential problem areas and any unusual or accidental spills and discharges into the collection system or receiving streams.
6. Conducts visual surveillance of the collection system for discharges, sunken areas, ground cracks along pipeline routes, vandalism, structure damages, etc.
7. Employees assigned to this position are classified as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to report to work when scheduled during departmental and / or emergency situations including, but not limited to, extended periods of inclement weather when travel may be difficult. This position is essential because in the absence of sufficient personnel, the plant cannot operate safely.
WORK LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not regularly provide work leadership or full personnel management to any employees.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION

One year of experience related to the collection system inspection, maintenance, and repair is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
any specialized certifications licenses or registrations required by TRA or other authority in order to do the job, including those the incumbent must be able to obtain)
Valid Texas driver's license. Class D Wastewater Operator's Certificate of Competency is required within one year. Level 1 Collection System Operator Certificate is required after two years.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions include exposure to extreme weather, odor, noise, chemical hazards, gases, and dust, standing for prolonged periods of time, walking up and down several flights of stairs, climbing and descending ladders, working at heights, and working in tight or confined spaces.

Hand tools, tractor, shop tools, backhoe, crane, vac-jetter truck, TV inspection equipment, flatbed truck, safety equipment, PPE, boom truck, heavy equipment, pumps and pipe fusion machine, shop tools, welding equipment, and office equipment.
