This role involves skilled duties in operating water or wastewater treatment plants or raw water pumping plants. Responsibilities include routine inspections of plant processes and equipment, working under general supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor plant operations through observation, instrumentation, and laboratory test results, taking corrective actions as necessary.
- Adjust process parameters to predetermined levels, placing equipment into operation or removing it from operation.
- Observe the condition of mechanical equipment, notify relevant personnel of needed repairs or operational problems, and take corrective action when equipment malfunctions.
- Take samples at various points in the plant process, interpret data, perform laboratory tests, and maintain good communication through thorough written process logs and records.
- Assist in data input into computer systems, provide technical training to less experienced staff members, and observe all safety guidelines.
- Respond to emergency situations as directed by supervisors, handle chemicals safely, and be responsible for plant security during evening and night shifts.
Work Leadership Responsibilities: This role does not regularly provide work leadership or full personnel management to any employees.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma; sixty college credit hours preferred or equivalent technical education.
Experience: Two years of experience in water/wastewater or raw water pumping plant.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (or predecessor agency) Class C Water or Wastewater Operator's Certificate of Competency required.
Guidance Received: Receives regular instructions and chooses between a range of procedures.
