What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor, M&R III position at TRAC?
Position Responsibilities, not limited to: Maintain and oversee chassis repair and refurbishment TRAC SACP3.0 program
- Monitor, update, and report daily inventory status.
- Inspect intermodal chassis equipment; perform pre-refurb QC inspections; generate estimates to be evaluated as refurb candidates.
- Evaluate, associate, and itemize repair costs.
- Communicate closely with Asset Management, Operations, TRAC Engineer, Tire, Licensing and other departments as needed.
- Manage production, repair procedures and criteria.
- Perform QC inspections during different stages of the refurb process; strip and repair, shot blast and paint, final assembly.
- Ensure the proper use of parts, tools, and safety protocols.
- Work with management to implement cost saving solutions.
- Maintain a schedule for proper workflow and enforce deadlines.
- Conduct final QC inspections with proper tools, including and not limited to the use of light tester, hammer, air compressor, paint gauge, tape measure, and torque wrenches.
- Communicate, schedule and perform joint inspections with third party surveyors (SACP) for customer on and off hiring of equipment.
- Perform yard audits; inspect equipment stacking, organization, safety, yard maintenance and cleanup.
- Comprise and keep track of all necessary documentation.
- Use M&R technical skills to review, dispute, and approve final invoices.
- Maintain tire inventory, coordinate ordering deliveries.
- Implement any production changes to meet the costumers booking and market needs.
- Maintain orderly office space.
Qualifications:
- Must have a valid driver’s license, pass a background check, meet Rail Terminal facility security requirements, and have or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
- At least one year of experience in intermodal transportation.
- Must be able to perform “walk-around” inspection of chassis, as well as using a crawler to check brakes and axles.
- Must be able to receive and communicate repair instructions verbally and in writing in a professional manner
- Knowledge and familiarity with chassis repair and maintenance; familiar with DOT violations, FMCSA, and IICL repair criteria. (Certifications preferred).
- Must have a command of MS-Office package, Outlook, Word, and Excel; read basic diagrams and layouts.
- Ability to travel a plus.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, pass a background check, meet Rail Terminal facility security requirements, and have or be able to obtain a TWIC card

- Must be able to lift and move truck tires.
- Must be able to multi-task, and work independently as well as contribute to the overall success of the team.
- Must be able to receive and communicate repair instructions verbally and in writing in a professional manner.
- Understand and comply with all safety precautions.
- Have M&R experience and operational knowledge of rail, marine and port, CY, and depot facilities.
- Candidate must be free of potential conflicts of interest.
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
