What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Manager position at TRACEY ROAD EQUIPMENT?
Tracey Road Equipment, Inc., an established and growing organization in the construction equipment and heavy-duty truck industry, is currently seeking a Safety Supervisor.
This role directly oversees the workplace safety functions at the East Syracuse, NY facility. Tracey Road has 11 locations throughout New York State and Pennsylvania that this role will also support. The position will be based on-site at Syracuse Headquarters, but will also require occasional travel to other branches.
Responsibilities Include:
- Continuously monitor and adapt safety procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees.
- Advise the company’s leadership and administrative teams on safety issues and compliance in specific projects and operations.
- Manage the company safety program and provide safety training for employees on policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines both physically and online.
- Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
- Maintain the OSHA logs and incident reporting. Analyze incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies to institute changes that lead to a safer environment.
- Administrative tasks such as applying for permits, purchasing safety equipment, and investing in designs that limit risk.
- Some specific areas include: maintaining OSHA program, MSHA program, SDS program, HAZCOM program, Forklift training, Air Hygiene program, etc.
Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred.
- 3 years experience in a Safety role or related position.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA.
- Strong interpersonal & communication skills.
- Great attention to detail.
- Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms to a large workforce.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
