Motion Designer & Editor:
Trade School is seeking a freelance Motion Designer & Editor to join our Dynamic Creative Studio—a fast-paced, specialized team within Trade School’s creative department, dedicated to the agency's content-at-scale practice. As a member of our team, you’ll be responsible for crafting and editing high-quality, engaging motion graphics and video content across digital platforms, ensuring all work aligns with brand standards, campaign guidelines, and performance marketing goals. Success in this role requires a balance of creativity and strategic thinking, an exceptional eye for detail, and a collaborative mindset to produce motion design that is both visually compelling and results-driven.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create engaging motion graphics, animations, and video content that align with brand identity and marketing objectives.
  • Design and edit video assets for social media, digital campaigns, websites, and other marketing touchpoints.
  • Adapt motion content to fit various platforms (e.g., Meta, Pinterest, OLA, YouTube), ensuring visual consistency and best performance across channels.
  • Collaborate with designers, illustrators, and copywriters to integrate motion seamlessly into broader creative campaigns.
  • Apply storytelling techniques to enhance brand messaging through movement, pacing, and composition.
  • Execute thoughtful, high-quality motion work with pixel-perfect precision—covering typography, alignment, timing, and visual hierarchy.
  • Experiment with new formats, styles, and technologies to push creative boundaries and evolve our approach to motion content.
  • Work closely with marketing and analytics teams to analyze performance data and iterate on creative based on insights.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and brand consistency are met with minimal supervision.
  • Taking ownership of assignments by meeting timelines and deadlines with moderate supervision, asking clarifying questions to ensure a clear understanding of the assignment, feedback, and client’s business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Portfolio showcasing a range of motion design and video editing work, demonstrating a strong understanding of animation principles and storytelling.
  • 3-5 years of motion design, animation, and video editing experience, particularly within the social and digital space at a creative agency or agency adjacent.
  • In-depth knowledge of social and digital platform best practices, including the ability to create and edit dynamic, platform-specific creative.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, with the ability to clearly articulate artistic choices and strategies.
  • Effective at managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Open to and receptive to feedback, with a proactive approach to addressing revisions quickly and effectively.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring pixel-perfect execution.
  • Proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Illustrator, with additional experience in Figma and motion tools like Cinema 4D or Blender being a plus.
  • BA/BS degree in Motion Design, Animation, Graphic Design, or a related field is a plus.

  • Experience with character animation and working with illustrated assets.
  • 3D animation and motion tracking skills.
  • Knowledge of AI-powered motion design tools.
