With many years of success and continued growth, their organization continues to experience a need for career minded professionals to join their team. They have recently created a role on their Financial Reporting team and are currently looking to hire an Accountant out of their Sarasota headquarters.
Accountant – General Accounting & Financial Reporting
Location: Sarasota, FL (Hybrid – Work from Home 2x/week)
OVERVIEW
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced accounting professional to join our collaborative and continuously evolving Finance team. This role is key to supporting the timely and accurate preparation of our financial statements through hands-on accounting work, analysis, and reporting. As an Accountant, you'll work in a dynamic environment where continuous learning is encouraged. You’ll apply your advanced Excel skills, strong analytical mindset, and keen attention to detail to prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and analyze variances across asset, liability, and capital accounts.
In this role, you will:
- Prepare and post journal entries by gathering and analyzing account information
- Perform complex reconciliations and support month-end close activities
- Analyze and explain financial variances, trends, and irregularities
- Maintain accurate general ledger records
- Collaborate with IT on data validation testing and enhancements
- Utilize enterprise systems (PeopleSoft or similar) for financial reporting and analysis
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting or related experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Advanced Excel skills with experience handling large datasets
- Proficiency in general ledger software and Microsoft Office applications
- Proven ability to prepare financial statements and account reconciliations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to interpret and analyze complex data, reports, and IT flows
- Familiarity with commercial insurance terminology and practices
Additional Qualifications:
- Knowledge of SQL (a plus, not required)
- CPA certification (a plus, but not required)
Salary : $70,000 - $75,000
