Trader Joe's is unlike any place you've ever worked. Trust us on that. The qualified person has at least 1 year of Accounting experience and is a raving fan of the Trader Joe's concept. A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is strongly preferred. This role is based in our office in Monrovia, California.
The Staff Accountant - WCD is responsible for:
- Reviewing and preparing fixed asset additions, expense accounts, and depreciation analysis for Trader Joe's affiliated companies.
- Reviewing invoices to ensure properly coded to fixed assets or expense from both a GAAP and Company policy perspective prior to general ledger posting.
- Preparing general ledger entries for month-end closing for warehouse, logistics and manufacturing services including booking accruals for payroll, benefits, unclaimed services, and other services.
- Providing detailed trending analysis on fluctuations from the month-over-month, quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year comparisons for GL expense accounts.
- Preparing balance sheet reconciliations for vendor receivables for logistics claims, cash, prepaid and accrual accounts relating to expenses noted above.
- Streamlining processes and identifying efficiency opportunities where available and making recommendations.
- Assisting with year-end audit request.
- Working collaboratively with other departments.
The Staff Account - WCD has:
- 0-3 years of relevant accounting experience ideally in retail or multi-unit.
- A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited University preferably in Accounting or Business Administration.
- Experience using enterprise Accounting software, SAP preferred.
- Experience with Fixed Asset Accounting a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and is resourceful.
- The ability to dig into the details, research and reconcile accounts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
