Position Summary:

This role will manage the coordination, execution, and completion of construction projects while collaborating with contractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and internal teams. The Manager of Construction Operations will lead the operational side of construction, focusing on cost management, timeline adherence, quality control, and resource optimization, ensuring that projects meet both company standards and client expectations.
This position requires a hands-on, detail-oriented leader with strong project management skills, construction industry experience, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities:
Construction Project Management
- Oversee and manage construction projects from start to finish, ensuring that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the specified quality standards.
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resources, budgets, and procurement schedules.
- Coordinate with project teams, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure smooth execution of construction activities.
- Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during the construction phase, ensuring projects stay on track and meet deadlines.
Team Leadership & Resource Management
- Supervise and lead construction teams, including subcontractors and in-house personnel, ensuring alignment with project goals and quality expectations.
- Allocate resources effectively across multiple projects, ensuring that labor, materials, and equipment are optimized for maximum efficiency.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to construction managers and staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Conduct performance reviews and develop training programs to improve team skills and overall project outcomes.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Manage the project budgets and ensure that costs stay within the allocated budget.
- Track expenses related to materials, labor, subcontractor costs, and other project-related expenses, identifying any cost overruns early.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best rates and terms, ensuring cost-effective purchasing.
- Implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.
Quality Control & Safety Compliance
- Ensure all construction activities meet the required standards of quality and adhere to specifications, codes, and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress, quality, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Develop and enforce strict quality control measures and ensure compliance with building codes, legal requirements, and industry standards.
- Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations, conducting safety audits, and addressing safety concerns promptly.
Scheduling & Timelines
- Create and manage project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and projects are completed on time.
- Monitor progress and resolve any delays or obstacles that may hinder project timelines.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure all dependencies are managed and timelines are adhered to.
- Adjust schedules as needed to account for changes in project scope, weather delays, or other unforeseen factors.
Vendor & Subcontractor Management
- Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and subcontractors, ensuring they deliver quality work on time and within budget.
- Evaluate and select subcontractors and vendors based on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements, ensuring all parties understand their responsibilities and deliverables.
- Monitor performance, address issues as they arise, and resolve conflicts promptly.
Client Communication & Stakeholder Reporting
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, keeping them informed on project status, timelines, and any potential issues or changes.
- Prepare and present regular updates and reports on project progress, budget status, and timelines for senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Manage client expectations, ensuring that projects are aligned with their goals and vision while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
Risk Management & Issue Resolution
- Identify potential risks and challenges that could impact the construction project, including schedule delays, budget overruns, or regulatory issues.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies to proactively address potential problems and minimize disruptions.
- Resolve issues quickly and efficiently to keep projects on track, including conflict resolution between team members or between contractors and stakeholders.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure that all necessary permits, licenses, and inspections are obtained and adhered to throughout the construction process.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, permits, inspection reports, and change orders, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Monitor compliance with all contractual obligations and manage any changes to project scope or deliverables.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- 4 years of experience in construction operations, project management, or construction leadership roles, with at least 3-5 years in a management capacity.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale construction projects, including residential, commercial, or industrial construction.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, project management processes, and quality control standards.
- Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend) and project management tools.
Skills:
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Strong project management abilities with a focus on timeline management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
