Position title: Customer Service Associate
Reports to: Store Manager
Compensation: $15.50/hour to start
Hours: 18-24 hours, with room to grow

TrailBlazer Pet Supply, Chico’s best pet supply store, specializes in natural and organic dog and cat food, green pet supplies and outdoor gear for dogs. TrailBlazer is also committed to helping pets live a long, healthy and happy life. Purpose of the Position: The Customer Service Associate’s primary focus is on great customer service. Advising customers on pet care products that will meet their pet’s needs is the primary task. SECONDARY TASKS ARE MANY AND ARE LISTED BELOW:

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Applicants must be current and knowledgeable of the animal industry; this includes knowledge of the variety of products available for pets, nutrition and pet health, the importance of toys for dogs and cats, etc. This diverse knowledge is why customers shop at TrailBlazer Pet Supply and have such a positive experience!
  • Applicant need demonstrate creativity in finding solutions to customers’ needs with the inventory available.
  • Must be outgoing while providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers and encourage their patronage.
  • Provide quality customer service to a client, which actively promotes TrailBlazer’s mission and services.
  • Sell, receive, stock, and manage inventory through Lightspeed, POS (Macintosh).
  • Must be detail oriented and have great attention to detail, good multitasking a plus!
  • Clean and organize the store for presentation and flow, this includes an eye for merchandising and creating displays.
  • Attend staff meetings, vendor trainings and have the ability to collaborate effectively as a team member, this includes flexibility, with the ability to help cover shifts as needed, based on school schedules.
  • Assist and educate customers in an engaging, professional, respectful, pleasant, courteous and tactful manner at all times.
  • Ability to maintain proprietary information in a confidential manner.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.
  • Flexible hours of availability are greatly desired.
  • Be able to work independently of the supervisor.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands: The Customer Service Associate will perform duties within the TrailBlazer facilities. The environment can be stressful and demanding, with staff members on their feet for at least 6 hours at a time. Consistently exposed to animals and animal allergens. Work can be physically and emotionally demanding. Applicant must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

On the Job Training: Applicants who have prior knowledge about pets, pet products, and/or retail experience are desired; however, on the job training will be provided.

  • Highly organized
  • Excellent customer Service skills: both verbal and written
  • Data-entry and database management experience and/OR aptitude preferred
