Trailer Equipment—Trailer X-Press is seeking an Assistant Fleet Maintenance Manager for immediate hire at our Westland, MI, location. The position serves customers when they need trailers, maintains inventory in the yard, and inspects trailers during the inbound and outbound process. The candidate must be able to work in various weather conditions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Inventory in the yards
- Weekly reconciliation
- In/Outbound inspections
- Service Writing & Scheduling Repairs
- Scanning
- Daily Yard map
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- Posses the ability to look over trailers inside and out. (You must get in and underneath the trailer.)
- Walking the yard as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience in working with trailers is a plus.
- Dealership experience is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Able to navigate detailed computer software programs with ease
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to perform successfully in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization

Knowledge:
- Intermediate knowledge of commercial vehicles
- Understanding of Heavy Duty equipment parts and accessories
- Mechanical aptitude – understanding commercial vehicle repairs
- Understanding of trucking and logistics
- Ability to use computer systems and software (Microsoft Office and Google products)
Transportation - Knowledge of principles and methods for moving the fleet, including the relative costs and benefits.
Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

- Must have 2 years of proven service writing experience
