Trailhead Homes, Inc. is currently seeking a qualified and professional Accounting Clerk for our Huntsville corporate office. The Accounting Clerk will play a key role in the daily administrative operations of the office and will handle a variety of business-related issues and non-routine situations by determining the appropriate course of action.
Areas of Responsibility:
I. Vendor Payables
- Input all manual invoices.
- Verify that all invoices and corresponding purchase orders are for the same dollar amount.
- Contact vendors regarding any credit issues/ complete necessary credit applications as needed.
- Print checks as needed.
- Research any discrepancies on vendor statements and identify any old invoices that may have been missed and remain unpaid.
- Handle vendor telephone calls regarding account status and past due invoices.
- Process all credit card transactions and maintain spreadsheets for monthly payments.
- Report vendor cash requirements to the Accounting Manger on a weekly basis.
II. Vendor Management
- Maintain appropriate vendor and subcontractor files.
- Ensure vendor insurance compliance by obtaining appropriate certificates of insurance prior to payment processing.
- Ensure vendor compliance by maintaining records of all state and local licenses.
- Maintain all payment backup filings.
III. General Duties
- Document daily financial transactions, post debits and credits, and record revenue and expenses.
- Reconcile bank statements for multiple companies/accounts.
- Produce balance sheets, statements, and other financial reports.
- Ensure that transactions are posted properly and that all legal requirements are met.
- Handle banking activities as needed.
III. Qualifications
- Experience using accounting software, preferably Sage Intacct Accounting/ Homefront.
- Experience with Excel and Word is required.
- Effective communication skills.
- Strong emphasis on customer service.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- An understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles and systems is highly desirable.
- Must be able to work efficiently and effectively, know-how to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- High School diploma or equivalent required. 2 years of college preferred in Accounting/Business.
- 2 years of experience in accounting, desirable.
