What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire and Security Technician position at Trails Country Security?
We are looking for a Fire and Security System Technician to install and update fire alarm systems, burglary alarm systems, electronic access control, and video camera systems in commercial and residential buildings. You will perform inspections, test alarms, and troubleshoot or document any issues. You will also respond to emergency service calls and ensure the systems are functioning properly. Applicants should also be knowledgeable in alarm basics, low voltage safety, and about NFPA standards, including NFPA 70 and 72. Applicants should already hold a Texas Fire Marshal Fire Alarm License and must also hold a Texas Private Security License (or be able to obtain one)
Fire and Security System Technician Duties and Responsibilities
- Install or upgrade systems in commercial and residential buildings
- Test and repair systems already in place
- Perform inspections to ensure systems are installed according to code
- Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues
- Respond to emergency service calls (when on-call)
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace
- Other duties as designated or assigned
Fire and Security System Technician Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Knowledge of NFPA standards a plus (including 70 and 72)
- Experience with commercial and residential systems
- Troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work on ladders and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Already hold Texas Fire Marshal Fire Alarm Technician (FAL or higher) license.
- Already hold or be able to obtain Texas Private Security License
- Clean Driving Record
- Clean Criminal History
- Not banned from working in Public Schools
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $24.50 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
