SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, the Facility Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations and administrative tasks related to the maintenance of the Trails Recreation Center. This position operates under a 32-hour workweek as part of the Districts trial program, offering flexibility while playing a key role in supporting the supervisor in ensuring the building's smooth operation, preventative maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for assisting with the safe internal and external operation, preventative maintenance, repair, and restoration of the Trails Recreation Center.
  • Oversee the daily work of part-time custodial and maintenance staff, assigning tasks and schedules based on priorities and cleaning protocols.
  • Develop and implement effective cleaning schedules to ensure efficient and thorough coverage of the facility.
  • Train and onboard new team members, providing comprehensive instruction on cleaning procedures, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
  • Assist with general maintenance tasks as assigned by the Supervisor, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs.
  • Follow established preventative maintenance schedules and procedures for building systems and equipment.
  • Maintain logs and records of maintenance activities.
  • Assist with tracking and ordering maintenance and cleaning supplies.
  • Update documentation such as equipment manuals, cleaning protocols, and warranty information.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating of maintenance staff.
  • Maintain computer systems and databases related to maintenance and custodial activities.
  • Work effectively with the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, maintenance staff, custodial team members, other department personnel, and external vendors.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
  • Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal, landscaping, and exterior upkeep.
  • Participate in safety training and maintain relevant certifications.
  • Supervise and administer computer software programs to monitor mechanical systems in the facility and aquatics area, monitor fire alarm system, track materials and supplies, equipment, repair, and staff expenses.
  • Develop and maintain emergency preparedness procedures for maintenance personnel including hazardous materials, safety data sheets (SDS), fire safety and basic first aid.
  • Assist with maintenance budget preparation by developing cost estimates of repairs, recommend parts, equipment, and other budget items. Assists in the formal bid process as needed for custodial products and contractual building repair and maintenance.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and lead maintenance staff meetings.
  • Establishes and maintains a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamwork.
  • Must maintain a positive and friendly attitude while engaged in stressful and/or controversial situations with patrons and co-workers.
  • Assist Maintenance Supervisor with long-range planning and goals regarding facility and programs practices. Willing to cross-train; learn facility management practices.
  • Complies with District rules and regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs various other duties as assigned by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Working knowledge of building codes, environmental rules and all other regulations governing repair, maintenance, housekeeping, and construction of facilities..
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Recruit, train and supervise part time maintenance and custodial personnel.
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with other District personnel, general public, vendors, contractual companies, and representatives of other governmental agencies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work performed is in a busy, and at times, noisy environment where interruptions may exist. Conditions may be warm, humid, and chemically treated.
  • Ability to interact with the public in a positive and professional manner in possibly stressful and emotionally charged situations.
  • May require long periods of standing and sitting.
  • Ability to stand, reach and kneel.
  • Ability to talk and/or hear managers, co-workers, and general public.
  • Ability to lift, carry or transport objects up to 50 lbs assisted.
  • Ability to see objects closely and at a distance.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000-$59,850 annually, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, a retirement plan with company match, paid vacation and sick leave, the opportunity to receive an annual bonus, and recreation benefits for the employee and their immediate family members. This position operates under a 32-hour workweek as part of the Districts trial program, offering flexibility while maintaining full-time benefits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a maintenance-related field.
  • Basic knowledge of building systems and maintenance procedures.
  • Strong understanding of cleaning protocols and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of cardiovascular, strength and circuit weight equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
  • Experience with maintenance and/or cleaning software or databases.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
