Job Overview
The Workshop Facilitator for the JOBS program plays an integral role in supporting adults facing poverty by helping them develop the skills necessary for workforce success and long-term stability. This position involves leading both in-person and virtual workshops that focus on life skills, stabilized living, and job readiness, with an emphasis on enhancing both hard skills (job-specific abilities) and soft skills (such as communication, time management, and problem-solving).

Responsibilities
- Demonstrate compassion and understanding for individuals experiencing extreme hardship, leaving bias behind and approaching each situation with an open mind, committed to helping people on their path to self-sufficiency.
- Deliver training in various classroom formats, using relevant training materials and a variety of media to address the individual needs of learners.
- Select or develop teaching aides, such as training handbooks, demonstrations models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works.
- Maintain accurate records, including training schedules and attendance and any required system documentation
- Assist participants with online searches and other computer-based employment and life skills resources.
Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months experience as a trainer, facilitator, or instructor; or any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience which ensure the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Knowledge of adult learners and alternative educational methods and have the ability to apply these methods for adults, at-risk teens and multicultural students, particularly those facing poverty who may need guidance in developing appropriate social skills and behaviors.
- Ability to create a classroom environment that is supportive, respectful, and conducive to learning, while addressing the specific needs of individuals who may need assistance with social skills, workplace etiquette, and professional behavior.
- Ability to work independently and autonomously, while being adaptable to the unique needs of participants.
- Ability to create an inclusive, non-judgmental environment that fosters trust and encourages participants to engage in skill development and self-sufficiency.
- Sensitivity to cultural, economic, and social diversity, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Must pass a criminal history background investigation however, a conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual from this position.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record is required.
- Must be willing to use own vehicle on occasion; mileage reimbursement will be provided.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Primarily indoors with heating and cooling regulated in a standard office environment; may be exposed to extreme weather conditions when traveling to training, meetings, or between work sites. May be required to work overtime if need arises. Usual working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m, Tuesday through Friday. May be required to travel out of town with overnight stays.
Individual will have extended periods of sitting, talking and hearing. May need to bend, stoop and stretch for purposes of filing. Light lifting may be necessary for purposes of stocking supplies.
