Training Technologies and Support, Inc. is interviewing for a Grounds Maintenance Laborer to support our government customer in Southern, CA. This position is a Union position with great benefits.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform grounds maintenance duties.
- Mow lawn using hand, power or riding lawnmower.
- Trim and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls using hedge trimmers, clippers, and edging tools.
- Landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes.
- Water plants and grass as needed
- Perform weed and brush control.
- Apply pesticide to rid grounds of pests such as mosquitos, wasps, ticks, and others.
- Apply fertilizer to ground to enhance growth
- Rake, mulch, and prune the grounds as needed.
- Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth using shears and other hand tools.
- Cut down tree limbs that are posing a danger
- Pick up and load rubbish debris, and trash into truck to dispose of properly.
- Sweep walkway of debris
- Pressure wash sidewalks, curbs, and pathways.
- Perform routine maintenance duties such as applying plaster, fixing fountains, and other duties.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in grounds keeping.
- Operate a motor vehicle to assigned work locations
- Other tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- 6 months experience in grounds maintenance is preferred
- Ability to operate a tractor and/or mower, weed eaters, chain saws, pressure washer, and brush cutters.
- Ability to read and understand maps.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Able to perform physically demanding tasks outside in the weather and on a variety of terrain. Weather conditions may include rain, cold, and/or heat. as well as on a landscaping job site. Work terrain may include steep inclines and uneven ground surfaces.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license with the ability to be insured.
- Must be able to gain access to government facility.
