Training Technologies and Support, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Grounds Maintenance Worker to support our government customer in Lubbock, TX. The Grounds Maintenance Worker works directly for the West Texas Program Manager (PM) and provides administrative assistance in order to facilitate the maintenance of federal office buildings. To accomplish this, the Grounds Maintenance Worker must work closely with co-workers as well as the Program Manager. Work is typically performed during a daytime shift Monday through Friday, except for Federal Holidays. Work during other times is rare.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Directly responsible for the completion of contract deliverables.
- Responsible for employee safety and quality control.
- Schedules daily tasks to ensure deliverables are completed
- As the only dedicated grounds maintenance worker, trains other employees who assist with grounds maintenance in the operation of work-related equipment.
- Ensures all equipment is in proper working condition.
- Provides input to the PM for reports and summaries as required.
- Maintains appropriate records for administrative and regulatory purposes.
- Supports PM in order to resolve client concerns, conducts follow-up calls and makes onsite visit inspections to ensure satisfactory job performance.
- Meets periodically with the PM to review status of deliverables and to institute corrective measures for any deficiencies found.
- Responsible for compliance with all OSHA regulations
- Create estimates as needed.
- Perform all groundskeeping duties including, but not limited to, completing routine maintenance and oversight of the irrigation systems, trimming, edging, planting, weeding, raking, mulching, mowing, pruning and/or cutting down shrubs/trees/tree limbs, assisting with tree/stump removal, picking up and disposing of rubbish debris, sweeping/pressure washing parking lots and walkways, and performing minor repairs/maintenance on groundskeeping equipment.
- Operate a motor vehicle to assigned work locations.
- Other assigned tasks including, but not limited to, seasonal duties such as application of de-icing material, snow shoveling, or parking lot striping.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of three (3) years of grounds maintenance experience and/or a high school diploma.
- Must be able to pass a government background check and be able to gain, and maintain, access to government facilities.
- Must possess knowledge and experience of landscaping requirements, equipment, and chemicals.
- Able to work both independently and in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Able to perform physically demanding tasks outside in weather conditions that may include rain, cold, and/or heat.
- Able to lift weights consistent with landscaping duties; weights requiring additional supports or multi-person lifts will prioritize safety and incorporate the NIOSH model to avoid injury.
- Ability to demonstrate basic proficiency in computer skills and in operation of routine office equipment.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license with the ability to be insured.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess a State of Texas Custom Applicators License for the application of Herbicides.
- Have a working understanding of herbicide application and the ability to fill and submit Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all herbicides used on grounds.
- Arborist License
