Inventory Control Specialist
Ft Smith, Arkansas
**This is a full time, hourly, direct hire position.
**Relocation is not available for this position.
Job Summary:
The job requires problem solving, trouble shooting, and collaboration with other team members to ensure timely transactions and accuracy of inventory. As a team, we strive to exceed our customer (internal and external) expectations by providing excellent communication, on time delivery (materials and units), while driving continuous improvement initiatives by overcoming challenges, to surpass business metrics (revenue, inventory and turns, and freight).
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the inventory
- Performs accurate and timely inventory counts and recounts as required
- Communicates discrepancies to Inventory Analyst
- Reviews receiving documentation for accuracy
- Resolves receiving discrepancies
- Performs research and resolves inventory discrepancies within level of authority
- Performs inventory research to satisfy pending shipments
- Resolves inventory from ‘hold status' as required
- Supports in the creation of standard work for material and information flow
- Utilizes technology to track and report material levels and location
- Train new members on work tasks
- Ability to prepare inventory reports for Inventory Control and Receiving MDI
- Create and improve processes for managing, organizing, tracking and disposing of direct material and part inventory
- Safely and effectively operate powered industrial vehicles to include forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities
- Drive operations excellence by adhering to the process set forth in the BOS for Stock Room Accuracy(CCNT program) and Physical Inventory Exemption.
- Utilize A3 & 9-step problem solving methods to identify and prioritize relevant opportunities
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 2-year associate degree in Inventory Management, Procurement, Purchasing, or a related field – or – High School diploma, GED, with minimum 5 years relevant work experience.
- Experienced with computers and Warehouse Inventory Software
- Prior experience in cycle counting and material handling.
- Mathematical skill: add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Able to work overtime when necessary
- Language skills – English proficiency required: able to read and comprehend documents, shop drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, short correspondence, and memos. Able to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations. Able to write legibly.
- Able to become certified on forklift and other material handling devices
- Able to use computer and/or barcode scanner to learn business computer systems
- Good interpersonal skills and able to interact positively and work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Self-motivated and willing to change priorities as needed.
- Willing to participate in continuous learning opportunities for personal and job development.
- Well organized with the ability to create and maintain records related to purchasing, shipping, and receiving activities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Perform tasks requiring hand and eye coordination, with good hand dexterity (gripping and pinching repetitively) for more than 2/3’s of work shift
- Lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 10 pounds continuously, 25 pounds repetitively and 50 pounds occasionally. Lifting or carrying objects over 50 pounds requires a two person lift, or a lift assist
- Bend, twist, squat, kneel, and/or stoop repetitively 6 to 8 hours per day
- Reach overhead repetitively for more than 1/3 of work shift
- Stand continuously for 8 to 10 hours per day
- Climb up and down stairs, ladders up to 3 hours per day
- Use of senses to detect quality defects and unsafe conditions
- Moderate physical exertion
