This position is located in La Crosse, WI and has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed on-site 3 days each week.
What You Will Do
- Support the Applied Compression Technologies team in New Technology Introduction (NTI) projects, aiming for potential release in New Product Development (NPD) initiatives.
- Work with engineering to understand product requirements
- Advance model driven development methods
- Develop and document control strategies and algorithms to meet or exceed product requirements
- Lead dynamic controls testing: test planning, lab support, data analysis
- Develop and execute hardware in loop testing (real time data analysis)
- Able to travel overnight; less than 5% of the time.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering (or related technical discipline) and at least 3-years of control theory work experience is required.
- Master’s Degree is preferred, but not required.
- Classical control knowledge required (PID control, linear control, digital filtering)
- Advanced control knowledge preferred (modern control theory, model predictive control, non-linear control, adaptive control)
- Software and system modeling expertise required (Matlab/Simulink, Modelica, Object Oriented Programming Language and Scripting (Python)
- Understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics
- Understanding of compressor operation in the vapor compression cycle
- Programming skills with the ability to learn new programming languages
- Experience with product development processes preferred
- Experience with HVAC Systems and Components preferred
- Knowledge of data analysis
- Laboratory experience
