Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Field Service Technician to join our team. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for providing on-site disassembly and removal of electrical equipment. This is a hands-on role that requires a safety first mindset with the ability to learn quickly and resolve issues efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently use hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, chisels, pliers, etc)
- Safely and efficiently use powered hand tools (pneumatic wrenches, electric reciprocating saws, etc)
- Safely rig electrical equipment for lifting and moving with extend-a-boom forklifts or crane. After additional training
- Be able to learn and understand the breakdown sequence for the safe disassembly of large equipment into recoverable metals
- Separate and segregate metals from the disassembly process for further cleaning, packaging, and shipping to recyclers.
- Safely drain residual oils from electrical equipment tanks
- Safely operate mobile lifting equipment (forklifts & aerial boom lifts) after additional training
- Safely use and maintain fall protection equipment used during disassembly of tall electrical equipment
- Occasional work at heights of four to 15 ft above the floor requiring use of fall protection equipment
- Occasional confined space entries (permit and non-permit)
- Physical ability to perform heavy work, exerting up to 100lbs of force occasionally and lifting/carrying 50 lbs. repetitively
- Travel required up to 5-6 days a week consistently, occasionally some projects may require 2 week stays out of town.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations while performing job duties
Experience:
- No previous experience necessary
- Previous experience is preferred and must be willing and able to complete:
- Must be trained to safely operate powered hand tools
- Must be trained in proper rigging of the electrical equipment for lifting
- Must be trained and certified to safely operate mobile equipment
- Must be respirator trained and fit-tested for ½ face negative pressure respirators and must be medically cleared.
-Must be trained in: site service rules and safety policies, hazardous materials emergency response, personal protective equipment, PCB hazard awareness, hazard communications, spill prevention, lockout/tagout, fall protection, and hearing conservation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written
