Job Description
Position Purpose: General care of pregnant cows.
Hours Available: every weekend, Friday and Saturday night from 8:00pm-6:00 am
Key Responsibilities
Animal Science or related field degree preferred but candidates with pertinent experience will be considered.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Working conditions are primarily an outdoor environment with extreme temperatures, wind, and muddy conditions. Animals, especially if handled improperly, can cause injury. Ability to be on feet walking, or standing for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
Other Skills/experience
Prior calving and cattle handling experience is preferred.
Prior experience with farm equipment such as, but not limited to, skid loaders, tractors, manure spreaders, and utility vehicles.

Position Purpose: General care of pregnant cows.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor pregnant cows, administer treatments according to protocol or veterinary direction.
- Feed cows.
- Pick up newborn calves shortly after birth and process them according to protocols.
- Provide basic obstetrical assistance to recipient cows when indicated.
- Tag, administer colostrum, and other neonatal treatments to newborn calves.
- Record all required calving, calf data, cow movements, treatments, deaths and other information in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist with general facility and equipment maintenance.
- Assist with cow movement, in, through, and out of the calving center facilities.
- Maintains a professional image reflective of Trans Ova’s industry position.
- Follows Trans Ova’s policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
