Job Description:
As the Technical Training Specialist, you will work with plant management to assess employee job skills to build and coordinate customized training to increase employee job knowledge and productivity. This is a hands-on role where most time is spent working with employees in a heavy industrial shop environment.
Job Requirements:
- Perform and assist in the identification and management of hourly mentors/trainers.
- Facilitate new hire orientation and on-boarding activities.
- Analyze and apply ‘5-Why’ in the identification and resolution of performance gaps.
- Conduct facility tours on each shift identifying training process gaps.
- Work with plant management to assess employee skills to identify areas requiring training.
- Evaluate performance indicators (e.g., TRIR, DART, Turnover, Certifications, Employee Survey, etc.) to ensure training is meeting business needs.
- Ability to lead others without formal control and demonstrate techniques to achieve the desired results.
- Participate in continuous improvement events and recognition programs.
- Engage with employees to develop transparent communication.
- Collaborate with Corporate Training facility resources to deploy and modify training.
- Work with employees to perform and understand work processes and hazards.
- Research and understand local training resources.
- Participate in and support quality projects and initiatives to ensure that the company achieves its goals.
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required; College degree preferred in Education, HR, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of related on the job training in manufacturing or repair environment.
- Ability to minimally spend time on off shifts (2nd and 3rd shift) once a month.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Excel.
- Proficient in managing Learning Management System.
- Proficient in applying Marmon Toolbox.
- Complies with all safety rules and procedures.
- Industry knowledge of AAR and FRA rules, and Tank Car Maintenance Regulations; Knowledge of current regulatory requirements (e.g., AAR MSRP, M-1002, Section C, Part III, HM201); Knowledge of FRA regulations, preferred.
