This position is fully remote. Must live in Nevada.
Job Summary:
As a Spanish-English Over-the-Phone Interpreter, you will be responsible for providing high-quality language interpretation services during phone calls, ensuring accurate communication between Spanish-speaking and English-speaking individuals. This role will work directly with patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and Insurance professionals to help facilitate over-the-phone communication between all parties. This role will require a deep understanding of both languages, cultural nuances, and the ability to facilitate effective communication.
Essential Functions:
Real-time Interpretation:
- Conduct over-the-phone interpretation in real-time during various conversations, including recorded statements, medical consultations, and customer service interactions.
- Navigate complex and technical language with ease, ensuring the accurate conveyance of information between parties.
Cultural Competence:
- Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity to accurately interpret idioms, colloquialisms, and cultural nuances, ensuring that the meaning is fully understood by both parties.
- Adapt communication styles based on the context and cultural background of the speakers.
Industry-specific Knowledge:
- Stay informed about industry-specific terminology and jargon related to the fields in which interpretation services are provided.
- Research and familiarize yourself with relevant industry updates to enhance interpretation accuracy.
Maintain Neutrality and Impartiality:
- Uphold a high level of professionalism by remaining neutral and impartial during all interpretations.
- Avoid personal opinions or biases that may impact the interpretation process.
Translation Services:
- Provide written translation services as needed, converting documents and other written materials accurately between Spanish and English.
- Ensure that translated materials maintain the intended meaning and are culturally appropriate for the target audience.
Confidentiality and Ethics:
- Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines, ensuring that all interpreted information remains private and secure.
- Operate within the boundaries of a professional code of ethics governing interpreter services.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Keep detailed records of interpreted conversations, including key details, dates, and any special instructions.
- Provide periodic reports to supervisors on performance metrics and challenges faced during interpretation sessions.
Multitasking & Time Management:
- Effectively manage multiple tasks, including handling high call volumes and managing time efficiently between interpretation sessions.
- Stay organized and maintain a high level of accuracy, even in fast-paced environments.

Qualifications
- Fluent in English and Spanish/Native level of English and Spanish
- Exceptional verbal communication skills in both languages, with a clear and articulate speaking voice.
- Proven experience as an interpreter, preferably with a focus on over-the-phone interpretation. Translation services experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with diverse accents and dialects in both Spanish and English.
- Understanding of linguistics and different cultures.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification or training in interpretation services is highly desirable.
- Comfortable using relevant technology and software for remote interpretation.
- Reliable internet connection with the ability to connect the company’s laptop to Ethernet cable. Dedicated, quiet workspace.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
- Ability to adapt to fluctuating workflows and priorities.
- Can collaborate with teams and members to achieve goals.
- Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred). Experience in the healthcare or workers’ compensations industry is a plus.

- Understanding of HIPAA protocols and regulations.
- Ability to work independently and remotely.

- Proficient in basic PC operations, including Windows OS, internet, mainstream web browsers and Microsoft Office.
