TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full time Lead Toll Collector to join our team in Gig Harbor, Washington.
Job Summary:
The Lead Toll Collector is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a toll booth, ensuring efficient toll collection, maintaining accurate records, providing excellent customer service to drivers, and assisting the Toll Supervisor with a team of toll collectors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Comply with all toll collection policies, procedures, and related guidelines as outlined in applicable documents or manuals.
- Accurately calculate and collect tolls from drivers using cash, credit/debit, electronic toll tags, and making change as needed.
- Answer driver questions regarding toll rates, routes, and provide basic travel information.
- Maintain a secure cash drawer, accurately balancing transactions at the end of each shift.
- Operate all toll booth equipment including toll system equipment, signage, HVAC and lane closing equipment.
- Report any accidents, vehicle breakdowns, or toll system malfunctions to relevant authorities.
- Keep the toll booth area clean and organized, ensuring proper signage and visibility.
- Contact the Toll Supervisor when customers don’t cooperate with payment policies, customers or their passengers act suspiciously, or their vehicles arouse suspicion.
- Adhere to PCI-DSS position requirements as identified.
When applicable the following duties will also be required:
- Issue change funds.
- Check-in and verify end-of-tour deposits.
- Monitor both Open Road Tolling (ORT) and manual toll lanes.
- Adjust toll booth operations for peak efficiency while working a Toll Supervisor’s shift only.
- Resolve unexpected traffic events.
- Address toll lane customer issues and notify Toll Operations Manager.
- Respond to toll collector injuries.
- Provide Toll Operations Manager with required reports as needed.
- Assign toll collectors to lanes and coordinate shift breaks on a daily/shift basis only.
- Ensure daily cash handling and deposit procedures are followed by each toll collector.
- Perform toll collector duties to open and operate a cash lane as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience
- Experience in cash handling and cash close out/reconciliation procedures
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge and experience in traffic safety
- Expected to assume position and/or variable shift hours & days off as needed, as well as be assigned to work special events and holidays
Salary Range: Up to $23.07/hour, based upon experience.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to pre-employment drug testing, including THC.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This position requires frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Additionally, this position requires you be able to stand and/ or sit for up to 10 hours. Occasionally requires walking. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the person in this position is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and moving traffic. This position is also frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
