Job Responsibilities
As a Diesel Mechanic, you will perform transit vehicle maintenance in compliance with Transdev standards. This includes inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, and repairing assigned transit vehicles and related mechanical equipment. You will also be responsible for ensuring accurate upgrades and/or modifications on coach systems, road calls, and on-the-road repairs as needed. Furthermore, you will coach and monitor team members on the work team to promote efficient workflow and high-quality results.
Required Skills & Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent. You should have experience with all types of heavy-duty transit equipment and possess a Commercial Driving License with passenger and airbrake endorsements (we offer development opportunities for obtaining your license). Excellent communication skills and the ability to read, interpret safety documents, blueprints, schematics, and other mechanical diagrams are essential. Lastly, you must be able to pass a DOT physical examination, including a background check and a drug test.
Physical Demands
The physical demands of this job include standing, walking, using hands to manipulate objects, reaching, talking, and hearing regularly. You may occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and smell. Lifting up to 75 pounds is also required. The work environment can be extreme in heat and cold, with moderate noise levels, exposure to water, fumes, and chemicals possible.
