What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vehicle Prep Technician position at Transdev?
We're hiring for a Vehicle Prep Technician in Rockville, MD!
We are looking for an individual that understands the automotive electrical system and that knows how to work on vehicles. As an Emergency Vehicle Installer your primary responsibilities are installing, repairing, testing, and removing 12-volt law enforcement vehicle equipment, including, but not limited light bars, flashers, sirens, video cameras, laptops, printers, consoles, transport partitions, radios, speakers, antennas, routers, and more.
For this position automotive or marine 12v experience is a plus.
Transdev Fleet Services works on police, public safety and other vehicles for both local and federal accounts.
The Installer must be able to perform physically demanding tasks that may require accessing confined spaces to modify the vehicles to the client’s requirements.
Operating Monday- Friday. Some weekend work may be applicable for large projects.

Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience is desired, but not required.
- Knowledge of vehicle wiring
- Able to identify electrical circuits.
- Experience w/ installation of emergency lighting desired, but not required.
- Able to communicate well with others.
- Able to work on and see small objects.
- Good hearing and color vision
- Be prompt and prepared to work.
- Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Certification is desired, but not required.
- Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers by performing limited repairs & troubleshooting of low & high voltage electrical systems with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:
- ASE certifications required; ASE certification program provided.
- Mechanic’s Tool Set
- Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
- Work environment will be a combination of both indoors and outdoors.
