ABOUT THE ROLE
Amsted Automotive Group, Sterling Heights, is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker for our Afternoon shift (3pm – 11 pm) who will be responsible for supporting production operation setup and efficiencies by keeping tools and dies optimized as outlined below.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Troubleshoot, Repair, Maintain and optimize transfer and line dies in press and out as required
Operate Tool room equipment and machinery with precision
Supports press setup and efficiency as a team to achieve posted expectations
Adherence to safety procedures and protocols
Uses root cause analysis, problem solving skills to promote efficiency and quality
Directly responsible to maintain product quality to print specifications where applicable
Must be available to work overtime as required to meet Customer Demand
Serves in the capacity of wastewater handler commensurate with completion of proper environmental training
Other duties as assigned
Adapt and promote Lean Manufacturing principals using 5”S” and Kaizen processes
Support the Company’s Goals and Objectives through Continuous Improvement action plan participation and completion
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Must demonstrate proficiency of Blueprint GD&T interpretation of Dies, Details, and Part Prints
Must be able to effectively troubleshoot and solve daily operational deficiencies
Usage of a computer and other productivity machinery such as control panels
Must be able to interpret C.M.M. or gaging information and adjust Tooling to maintain Customer Quality requirements
Five years’ experience in Metal Stamping, Prototype, Tool and Die Build or Die Repair Technician
Possess working knowledge of IATF16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 compliance criteria to maintain manufacturing environmental standards to protect and preserve our customers product and the environment
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment to meet production standards
High school diploma or GED
Some college or technical trade manufacturing education is preferred

Work may require extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending, stooping and performing repetitive motion tasks
Excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds frequently
