What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Stop Maintenance Worker position at Transit?
Position Summary
Participate in the installation and maintenance of bus stop benches, bus shelters and related property; perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
High school diploma or GED; and
Three (3) years of maintenance, sign fabrication or street marking experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge
- Proper hand and power tool and equipment maintenance techniques
- Basic scheduling and record keeping methods and techniques
- Operational characteristics of maintenance equipment and tools
- Basic electrical skills
- Basic carpentry, welding and basic sprinkler repair techniques
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Independently perform bus stop and shelter maintenance and repair tasks
- Operate a variety of maintenance equipment in a safe and effective manner
- Read and interpret blue prints and drawings
- Perform surface preparation and painting of various materials
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Close streets and roads and safely detour traffic around affected area
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Communicate clearly and concisely
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
