Support Staff Professional

Do superheroes, spooky movies and “Sonic” spark your interest? Are you patient and tolerant of others and have experience working with kids? If you answered yes to these questions then this may be the job for you.

In your role as a Support Service Professional, you will assist an amazing 13-year-old young man with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities. He has the desire to self-direct and make choices in his life. He would also like to grow in the areas of communication and daily living skills. As a Support Service Professional, you will need to provide supervision at all times, both in his home and community, to ensure his safety. He utilizes coping skills when he is upset or frustrated. He requires transportation to access his community and participate in preferred activities. He also needs assistance with his daily living skills. Engage with him in his desired activities at home, such as coloring or crafts, and assist him in expanding his language skills. Provide support and prompt him through steps to focus and complete skills as needed. Your experience, support, and personality will assist him in successfully having choice and control and living his best everyday life.

Hours and Pay:

• Available hours evenings (after school) and some weekends
• Schedule to be determined
• You will work 10 hours a week
• Pay rate is $23.00 per hour.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 18 years of age or older.
• At least 1 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, Autism or in a related field.
• Creative, patient, and tolerant of others
• Experience working with children with intellectual disabilities and/or Autism.
• Willingness to undergo necessary clearances.
• A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record.

Experienced Staff will:

• Provide support and supervision to ensure the individual’s safety, welfare, and comfort at all times.
• Provide transportation to desired activities in the community
• Respect household boundaries
• Facilitate activities that supports the individuals desired outcomes
• Implement strategies to promote independence and self-direction.
• Provide engagement with the individual and enhance communication skills
