Transition Pathways Aide - Transition Pathways Center
Overview: The Transition Pathways Teacher Assistant performs duties that are instructional in nature or deliver direct assistance to students in instructional and community-based settings under the supervision and guidance of the classroom teacher and/or special education case manager. The Transition Pathways Teaching Assistant assists in carrying out responsibilities related to post-secondary transition planning and servicing for students with special education needs.

Calendar: 184 Teacher Attendance Days, 7:45am - 3:45pm
Qualifications: Education and experience equivalent to high school graduation
Preferable experience in working with children/adolescents with special needs
Illinois Paraprofessional license required
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid non-CDL License for the purpose of transporting students to community activities, vocational sites, etc.
Professional/Personal Characteristics:
- Previous experience in an educational setting preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and time management skills
- Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently under varying deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to identify sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
- Proficient with Google G-Suite, office and phone equipment
Job Responsibilities:
- Following training, complete transition assessments with students and complete data entry related to those assessments in IEPs or other software/programs
- Support students as a job coach at program-based and community-based worksites in developing pre-vocational employability skills
- Support students and teacher during in-class instruction
- Collaborate with team members to actively implement educational plan for students
- Assist in preparation of lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations
- Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods
- Tutor and assist students individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers
- Implement administration policies and rules governing students as a professional staff member
- Observe students' performance, and record relevant data to assess progress
- Implement individualized plans under case manager’s supervision, including the collection of student progress data
- Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor
