What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant - Captive Insurance position at Transition Staffing Group?
We are representing a new position with a health insurance company that began doing captive work over the last two years and is now growing that segment. The company is located downtown in a great office near Petco Park. Free parking and the possibility of a hybrid/remote schedule down the line. The target salary is around $100K. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Full cycle captive accounting including claims processing and reporting
- Collaborate with actuaries and claims administrators to ensure accurate reserve calculations and reporting
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements related to captive entities
- Support internal and external audits, including preparation of workpapers and responding to audit inquiries
- Assist in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures related to captive accounting and financial operations
- Other finance and accounting duties as assigned by CFO/Controller
- Ensure integrity and quality of documentation involving SOX controls, testing, and results
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
- At least 3 years of accounting experience in the health insurance industry
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, Outlook, and Word
- Experience with QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics or other accounting software.
- Ability to communicate/work effectively with team and management.
- Good critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and accomplish a variety of tasks or demands.
