Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, ensuring their safety and well-being while promoting independence. You will work with clients, assisting them with their daily living skills under the supervision of licensed professionals. On-the-job training
Responsibilities
- Encourage and assist clients in daily living activities, including personal hygiene, maintaining personal spaces and medication administration.
- Monitor behavioral changes and document observations in professional language.
- Implement treatment plans as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Support individuals with developmental disabilities by fostering an inclusive environment that encourages personal growth.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to HIPAA regulations and ensuring client confidentiality.
- Encourage clients to participate in recreational and therapeutic activities to promote social interaction and emotional well-being.
- Provide crisis intervention support when necessary, using de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors.
- Drive clients to doctors' appointments and if necessary assist in advocating their needs to other collaborating parties.
- Janitorial duties such as maintaining bathrooms.
- Cooking and/or prepping meals in the evening time as well as proper cleaning and sanitation.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in social work or patient care is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities or special education backgrounds is a plus.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients, families, and team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while demonstrating empathy and patience.
