Position Summary:
Responsible for maintaining all agency facilities in operating condition. Assignments include general labor and minor repairs assigned by the Property Manager or the maintenance specialist. Rotating twenty-four hour on-call responsibility for emergency maintenance calls is a requirement. You will work a seven hour shift /35 hour work week, operating out of our Tonawanda location. Looking for proven expertise in the following areas: plumbing, painting, HVAC, refrigeration, machinery repair and electricity.
Essential Job Functions
1. General Labor
- move furniture, supplies and equipment.
- assembles purchases (shelving, recreational equipment, etc.)
- remove debris from unit grounds.
- prepares/cleans for storage, seasonal equipment such as fans, air conditioners and grills.
- keeps residence entrances and sidewalks free of ice and snow.
2. Maintenance and Repairs
- performs repairs and preventative maintenance such as electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling, painting and carpentry.
- performs monthly inspections to company vehicles, fire extinguishers, smoke-co2 detectors.
- responds to emergency repair calls on a rotating 24-hour basis.
- reports observed repair and maintenance needs to the property manager and maintenance specialist.
3. Administrative Responsibilities
- accurately completes maintenance reports and paperwork in a timely manner.
- effectively communicates with agency staff regarding maintenance-repair issues.
- respects the privacy and confidentiality of agency residents.
- maintains effective working relationships with landlords and vendors.
- completes other administrative tasks as directed by the property manager or maintenance specialist.
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- 2 years experience in building maintenance and repairs.
- Must possess a valid NYS driver license.
- Must be sensitive to issues related to the residential environment of individuals diagnosed with a mental illness.
Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and personal automobile. Must pass all background checks, including a drug screening.
