What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker- Foster Family Agency position at Transitions Children's Services?
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of a Social Work Supervisor, provides trauma-informed therapeutic case management services to children, non-minor dependents and families within the foster care system regarding psychological issues related to trauma such as physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carry a caseload of up to 18 children/non-minor dependents. Develops and implements therapeutic treatment plans. Maintains weekly visits to children/non-minor dependents and resource homes. Works as part of a treatment team along with placing county partners, resource parents, therapists, school personnel and others. Completes Primary Assessments, Individualized Plans and Progress Notes. Maintains client files in accordance with Community Care Licensing Regulations and quality assurance standards. QUALIFICATIONS:
In accordance with ILS 88265.3(d), this position requires a Master's Degree from an accredited or state approved graduate school, in social work; social welfare; marriage, family, and child counseling; child psychology; child development; counseling psychology or social psychology. MSW preferred. Social work/case management experience preferred.
Child Abuse Index Clearance, FBI and Department of Justice Criminal Record Clearance. Must have and maintain a valid California Driver's License, maintain automobile insurance coverage and have access to an automobile that is in safe operating condition. Must be able to pass First Aid and CPR within 30 days of start date. Health screening - including TB clearance.
SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES:
Strong psychosocial assessment skills; minimal supervision regarding use of time, able to prioritize work assignments; ability to communicate effectively with professionals and clients/families and ability to make sound decisions. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The employee will frequently visit resource family homes and other community locations, where exposure to noise, smoke and other hazards may be possible. The position involves frequent local travel and occasional out-of-town travel.
