Transitions LifeCare is seeking a compassionate and experienced Grief Counselor to join our Transitions GriefCare team. This full-time role focuses on providing culturally competent bereavement support to children and families, with additional support for adults as needed. Reporting to the GriefCare Manager, you will serve as a grief resource within the organization and community, coordinating impactful programs that align with agency goals. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm; periodic weekends based on programming needs.

Transitions LifeCare is seeking a compassionate and experienced Grief Counselor to join our Transitions GriefCare team. This full-time role focuses on providing culturally competent bereavement support to children and families, with additional support for adults as needed. Reporting to the GriefCare Manager, you will serve as a grief resource within the organization and community, coordinating impactful programs that align with agency goals. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm; periodic weekends based on programming needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate children’s grief programs, including support groups, camps, and memorial events.
- Provide direct grief counseling for children and families, and support adults as needed.
- Develop and deliver educational workshops for staff, volunteers, schools, and community groups.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Build partnerships with schools and community organizations to extend bereavement services.
- Support agency-wide grief initiatives, interdisciplinary team education, and care planning.
- Assist in onboarding new staff and quality improvement efforts through data and documentation.
- Travel locally and work occasional evenings/weekends to meet program needs.
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Divinity, Pastoral Care, or related field.
- Clinical licensure required within 2 years of hire.
- Experience in health-related field, bereavement, and pediatric care preferred.
- Strong communication, documentation, and program coordination skills.
- Valid NC driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel within service area.
