Job Summary

As the Director of Digital Media & Social, you will collaborate closely with the CEO and COO to craft and implement impactful social media strategies that elevate engagement, spread TransLash's messages, and enhance brand visibility. Your leadership will extend to managing a dynamic team and overseeing integral contractors, including influencers, designers, and multimedia specialists.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of driving immersive, multimedia storytelling across various platforms—be it web, SMS, or digital events. Partnering with team leaders across TransLash, you will ensure that our media offerings resonate deeply with our audiences, employing sophisticated and inclusive approaches. Additionally, you will collaborate with traditional media outlets to implement branded campaigns that align with our goals.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design and execute comprehensive campaigns on digital and social media platforms aimed at boosting engagement and expanding TransLash's online community.
  • Manage daily operations for digital and social media staff, contractors, and content creators.
  • Work closely with the CEO, COO, and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategic content plans.
  • Ensure cohesive messaging across TransLash's content teams including Podcast, Film, News & Narrative, and Zine.
  • Build and nurture strategic partnerships with like-minded social platforms.
  • Establish data benchmarks and manage regular reporting to support planning initiatives.
  • Analyze available data to provide insights and recommendations to content teams and senior management.
  • Lead branded campaigns, ensuring alignment with organizational topics and goals across multiple platforms.
  • Curate content and manage community interactions to drive organizational objectives.
  • Keep informed of the latest analytics tools and trends in digital and social media.
  • Create original social-first content, including engaging gifs and memes.

Qualifications :

  • A minimum of ten years of experience in conceptualizing and executing digital content and social media campaigns.
  • At least five years of experience in launching new media brands.
  • A minimum of five years in team management.
  • Three or more years of experience at a notable news or media organization.
  • Preferred background as an editor or writer.
  • Strong understanding of the trans and broader LGBTQ community.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; Master's degree is preferred.
  • Required Skills :

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Deep knowledge of user experience design principles.
  • Proficiency in various software tools and technologies, including web development and content management systems.
  • Strong communication skills to relay ongoing needs and opportunities to senior management.
  • Able to mentor and train team members effectively.
  • Capable of managing freelance contracts for digital and social efforts.
  • Availability for domestic and international travel as needed.

  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Prolonged computer usage.
  • Frequent communication with others.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Compensation :

  • 135,000 annual salary benefits.
  • Work / Life Balance Policy :

  • This role is exempt; overtime compensation is not available.
  • Adjustments to schedules for overtime work can be discussed with the COO.
