We’re looking for a passionate Junior AI Scientist to join the Translated team in our HQ in Pi Campus, Rome. Our team is developing the next-generation Machine Translation System, with the ambitious goal of reaching the singularity that we define as the quality of the top-1% professional translator and making it available to millions of people worldwide.
What You’ll Do
- Product-driven research: apply the latest research to improve the quality of our Machine Translation solution and make an impact on our latest product.
- Manage the project lifecycle autonomously, from planning to deployment, with guidance from senior team members.
- Utilize an HPC cluster for scalable, multi-node training tasks to accelerate model development.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of product owners, designers, developers and system administrators.
- Participate in continuous learning opportunities to stay ahead in the fast-evolving field of AI and Machine Translation.
Qualifications Required
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python, while Java is a plus.
- Experience with Deep Learning frameworks and libraries such as: PyTorch, transformers, DeepSpeed/FSDP.
- Some hands-on experience with Large Language Models finetuning.
- Proactive, self-driven and enjoys solving complex problems, not just in the primary area of responsibility but across boundaries.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the capacity to convey technical concepts to non-expert audiences.
- Ability to iterate quickly and make decisions based on results and data analytics.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD or 3 years industry/equivalent research experience.
- Experience with distributed multi-node training.
- Experience with job scheduling and workload management systems, particularly Slurm.
