This role’s general statement of duties and responsibilities includes:
· Design Engineer specific duties, in addition to the noted general duties:
o Under the guidance of senior engineers, utilize finite element analysis (FEA) and other engineering calculations in the design process.
o Assist the project engineers and managers with their trailer projects. As expertise evolves, you may be assigned the lead on projects.
o You will perform basic design-work, and progress to more advanced designs as your expertise warrants.
· General Engineering Duties:
o The utilization of Solidworks, for 3D design work of steel trailer structures.
o Generate 2D assembly, fabrication, laser (and corresponding .dxf files), brake, saw, machining, and other manufacturing prints from 3D designs.
o Hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical circuit designs and drawings may be assigned.
o Collaborate on the development of the purchased part lists for trailer designs
o Calculate required steel and material lists.
o Prepare assembly checklists.
o Participate with the creation of engineering instructions for trailer repairs, as required.
o Utilize your engineering experience, to assist in sales estimating/quoting efforts as needed.
o Participate in engineering design reviews.
o Serve as a liaison with manufacturing, to streamline the feedback on drawings and designs. Make recommendations or corrections as necessary.
o Communicate and collaborate on issues and ideas, within the engineering department and with management regularly.
