The driver will pick up the tractor at 3166 Ancrum Road, Ladson, SC,and subsequently proceed to Averitt Express, located at 7749 Palmetto CommerceParkway, Charleston. The journey from Penske to Averitt Express typicallytakes approximately 10 minutes. The start time is 6 : 00 AM with an anticipatedarrival at Averitt in Charleston no later than 6 : 30 AM. The workday continuesuntil all deliveries are completed. The driver will be responsible forassisting with the unloading of a 53-foot trailer at Averitt and the reload ofa 36-foot trailer. This role involves handling touch freight with a palletjack and unloading at customer locations using a lift-gate trailer. Dailybackhaul pickups are included. Hauling Flooring - 53ft Trailers Schedule :
- MWF, the route covers the Charleston area.
- TUTHU, the route covers Hilton Head and Savannah.Truck Driver Job Duties and Responsibilities :
- Fully understand how to operate and safely drive a tractor trailer.
- Transport goods from the place of origin to assigned destination.
- Pick-up loads and organizes goods in an ordered, logical manner.
- Ensure contents are properly secured inside of the truck to prevent breakage or damage.
- Safely and efficiently handle and unload goods at selected destinations.
- Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries with customers.
- Stay on a predetermined route and ensure timely deliveries.
- Communicate with dispatch as needed.
- Confirm contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document.
- Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip.
- Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean.
- Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
- Adhere to company rules and regulations.
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weatherroad conditions.
- Comply with DOT regulations and make safety a priority at all times.Truck Driver Requirements and Qualifications :
- Valid Class A driver s license required
- Hazmat endorsement preferred
- 1 years proven experience with tractor-trailer driving preferred.
- Clean driving record with no more than 1 moving violation.
- Must pass a background check and DOT drug and alcohol test.
- Skilled at driving large vehicles
- Comfortable maneuvering, parking and backing a tractor-trailer.
- Alert, focused, and detail oriented.
- Proficient using GPS and E-log systems.
