Schedule: 70 hours/week, 6-7 days a week
Reports To: ESQ Manager

About the Role:

We are seeking a Construction Health & Safety Supervisor in the Los Angeles Area to support the Eaton and Palisades Fire Recovery Effort. This is a demanding yet rewarding role, ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols on environmental and construction sites during this critical recovery period. The position requires on-site presence, adaptability, and a strong commitment to worker safety. Relocation and temporary housing assistance may be provided for the right candidate.

This is a W-2 contract role (8-12 months) offering competitive benefits, including health, vision, dental, and 401(k). Due to the emergent nature of the work, schedules may require 70 hours per week, including weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and enforce health and safety compliance on all fire recovery Construction project sites.
• Implement and oversee Accident Prevention Plans (APP) and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Conduct inspections, risk assessments, and hazard mitigation to protect workers and site integrity.
• Train personnel and subcontractors on HAZWOPER safety procedures and other regulatory requirements.
• Ensure proper reporting and documentation of all incidents, investigations, and corrective actions.
• Monitor environmental and construction activities to ensure adherence to all federal, state, and company safety regulations.
• Collaborate with subcontractors and project teams to uphold high safety standards in a fast-paced, high-risk environment.
• Support emergency response efforts as needed in the hazardous work zones.

Requirements:

• HAZWOPER 40-Hour Certification (Mandatory) – Must have a current certification or be willing to complete refresher training.
• HAZWOPER Supervisor Certification
• OSHA 30 Construction Certification
• Construction Site Leadership
• Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) designation
• Hands-on experience in industrial hygiene monitoring and use of hazardous work permits
• Minimum 3 years of experience in health & safety supervision in environmental remediation, disaster response, or heavy construction projects.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EM 385 1-1, and other federal safety regulations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
• Must be able to work extended hours, including weekends and potential night shifts.
• Ability to travel to job sites and perform physically demanding tasks, including, walking for extended periods of time, climbing ladders, navigating rough terrain, and working in extreme environmental conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) or OHST (Occupational Health & Safety Technologist) Certification.
• Previous experience in wildfire recovery, environmental remediation, or hazardous waste management.
• Experience working with government agencies (USACE, NAVFAC, FEMA, or similar).
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.

Education

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Health & Safety or related field is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.
