About Transpacific Technologies:
Transpacific Technologies partners with clients to develop advanced platforms supporting operations on the ground, in the air, and in orbit. We are proud to support NASA’s Johnson Space Center, including the International Space Station (ISS) and Orion Programs. Our team is expanding, and we are seeking a full-time Mid-Level Project Engineer to join our dynamic environment delivering innovative hardware solutions for human spaceflight.

Role Overview:
As a Mid-Level Project Engineer, you will lead and support projects to develop, certify, and deliver critical flight hardware. You will also manage sustaining tasks for Crew and Maintenance Components (CMC) hardware, which includes diagnostics equipment, laptops, tools, stowage, and restraints. This role is highly cross-functional and customer-facing, requiring technical aptitude, strong project management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across engineering and business domains.

You’ll coordinate multiple complex projects at various stages of execution across both ISS and Orion programs—each with its own pace, priorities, and customer requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support spaceflight hardware development from concept through certification and delivery
  • Manage project schedules using resource-loaded plans in MS Project Professional
  • Create and justify basis-of-estimates (BOEs) for new and ongoing work
  • Prepare and deliver customer presentations, technical documentation, and trade studies
  • Author and maintain work orders, non-conformance reports, and project records
  • Coordinate across engineering disciplines and business stakeholders to align priorities and resolve issues
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and adjust to shifting timelines and deliverables across NASA programs
  • Monitor project budgets and drive cost-conscious decision-making in alignment with customer scrutiny
  • Support hardware testing, documentation, and other milestone activities, including occasional work outside normal hours

Key Skills and Capabilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple cross-program projects with diverse deliverables
  • A proactive mindset with strong time management and organizational skills
  • Customer-facing experience with a personable, solution-oriented approach
  • A strong understanding of project scheduling, cost tracking, and resource management
  • Technical familiarity with mechanical and electronic hardware design and integration
  • Ability to interpret and generate engineering drawings and documentation
  • Demonstrated leadership in driving project milestones and collaborating with cross-functional teams

Software & Tools:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Project for schedule management
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, including the ability to develop visual technical content
  • Experience with IBM Maximo, MS SharePoint, Creo Parametric, or similar tools is preferred

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering or a related technical field
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in project engineering, systems engineering, or technical project management (A relevant Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience)
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Demonstrated experience supporting complex technical projects in aerospace or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:
