About this Position
The Youth Program Manager will manage the Youth Empowerment Program at TransPonder for youth ages 14 to 24. The Youth Empowerment Program will create a leadership and advocacy group to train youth and assist them with public advocacy. The group will include activities and attending board and city council meetings. It will also have a curriculum focusing on leadership development and community engagement. The Youth Program Manager will mentor youth, monitor youth activities and events, and create a space where youth feel represented and heard. The program manager will also collect data to report outcomes to our grantors and expand our programming.
Reports to: Program Director
Work Schedule: Full-time (32-40 hours per week). The schedule would center around TransPonder’s business hours: M-F, 9a - 5p, and may include weekends and evenings as needed.
Work Location: 440 Maxwell Rd. Eugene, OR 97404.

Salary: $27-29/hour.
TransPonder determines starting pay based on relevant education and experience as provided by the applicant in their application materials. This process is consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act (OEPA).
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Development & Management
- Design and implement the curriculum and activities for the youth empowerment program.
- Manage program lifecycle, including planning and execution of evaluation and grant reporting.
- Ensure program alignment with TransPonder's mission and expectations from funders and the community.
- Facilitate groups and workshops.
- Continuously research and stay current on local and statewide initiatives that could impact youth.
Youth Engagement & Support
- Recruit youth participants.
- Develop supportive, empowering relationships with participants and stakeholders supporting youth within the program.
- Connect youth with local leaders and organizations to further their advocacy efforts.
- Attend board and city council meetings.
- Foster a peer-to-peer mentoring environment to develop leadership and teamwork skills.
- Assist participants in navigating systems to access external and internal resources and programs.
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage or coordinate with any interns, volunteers, and staff who are a part of the program.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
General Responsibilities
- Market the program.
- Ensure the confidentiality of participants.
- Participate in necessary meetings.
- Participate in required training.
- Comply with all applicable standards, guidelines, laws, and administrative rules.
- Other duties as defined by supervisor.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the following are required of the employee:
- Repetitive use of hands, such as grasping, twisting/turning of wrists, and finger dexterity, are necessary to perform various clerical duties, such as typing and writing.
- Frequent use of arms, such as pushing and pulling open drawers.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at an assigned station.
- Ability to bend, stand, reach, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for processing of paperwork.

Working Conditions, Travel, & Environment
The duties of this job require individuals to be able to work in non-traditional and community-based settings.
The duties of this job require regular attendance:
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to work in a variety of community settings, including those that are crowded and noisy.
- Ability to work at least 3 days per week for 20 hours.
Travel to other locations as necessary to complete essential job functions:
- Ability to transport self to job-related events and locations.
Qualifications
We seek a candidate who can communicate effectively verbally and in writing with participants, staff, and community partners with varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds. The candidate would have the ability to stay calm, kind, and non-judgmental with various vulnerable participants; have excellent problem-solving and organizational skills; experience with file maintenance and data entry; good follow-through and task management skills; ability to maintain professionalism, which holds a safe, respectful, and productive environment for participants, volunteers, and staff; ability to work in a busy and dynamic environment; and ability to work with participants in crisis in a variety of settings. They must also have the desire to work with diverse populations.
Required Qualifications:
- One or more (1 ) years of experience in program management, preferably in non-profit or community-based settings.
- Two (2) years of relevant work experience in social services, leadership, or advocacy.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and empower youth, particularly LGBTQIA2
- High school diploma or a GED.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience working with members of the LGBTQ community.
- Two (2) years of leadership experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree in social services, leadership, advocacy, or a related field.
- Experienced in developing and facilitating workshops and training.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
