What are the responsibilities and job description for the Guard/Trailer Inspector position at Transport Continental Inc.?
The Guard/Trailer Inspector will control, inspect, and document all traffic in or out of the yard as well as collect and issue all documents, and bills of ladings for loads received and/or transferred in the yard.
REQUIREMENTS
Required: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of two years in Security or related work.
Data entry is a plus.
Skill, Knowledge, and Abilities: The position requires loyalty, common sense, and the ability to evaluate and detect any anomalies.
Physical: standing, sitting, walking, bending, and stretching. Body Movements: hands, arms, eyes, ears, and voice. The ability to lift twenty-five (25) pounds may be required.
Licensing & Certification: Valid driver’s license.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Control all traffic in and out of TCI premises.
- Collect and control all paperwork flow for loads leaving, dropped, or transferred in TCI Yard.
- Inspect all loads entering or leaving TCI premises.
- Inspect all dry vans to ensure high-security seals are in place. If high-security seals are broken or missing, contact the safety department immediately.
- Inspect all fencing and gates weekly; advise Fleet Service Manager and Safety Director if repairs are needed.
- Open /Close all gates at the start and the end of each workday.
- Ensures that all Drivers or Owner Operators entering the TCI facility are wearing their identification badges.
- Ensures that all outside carriers or visitors entering TCI premises are issued temporary badges or visitor passes.
- Follow all CTPAT protocols stated in Transport Continental Inc’s security profile.
DUTIES AND TASKS
- Inspect and perform a piece count on all loads entering or leaving TCI premises.
- Collect sign and copy all paperwork bills of lading for loads dropped or transferred at TCI Yard.
- Inspect all trucks or trailers entering or leaving TCI premises.
- Document all trailers leaving TCI premises loaded or empty.
- Inspect all loads for proper tie-downs and weather protection.
- Keep the work area neat and organized.
- Assist forklift operator when needed or if instructed by the Fleet Service Manager.
- Actualize arrivals, enter empty moves, and upload & categorize images.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Safety Director.
- Perform 17 point inspection as described by C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) and report any issues and damage found. Report all new damages immediately via the Claims email address.
- Conduct a thorough inspection of the yard monthly utilizing the CTPAT form (Monthly Fence & Trash Inspection form).
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Safety Director.
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:
- All traffic must be managed accurately and consistently.
- All paperwork must be completed in a timely manner and kept for a minimum of one year.
- All anomalies must be reported to the Safety Department or Shop Management immediately.
- Appearance of the work area.
- Ensure that all gates are closed and secure at the end of each workday.
