Position Purpose:
Transport Enterprise Leasing, LLC (TEL) is a leading class 8 tractor and trailer leasing company. We have an opening for a qualified trailer technician at our Greenfield Reconditioning Center. The Trailer Technician is a valued team member tasked with completing returned equipment condition assessments, repairing and reconditioning TEL trailers.
Position Responsibilities:
- Tasks ownership of the trailer condition assessment process and required condition documentation.
- Takes ownership for the repairing of company owned trailers to meet our internal repair standards.
- Ability to complete task’s/ jobs within Standard Repair Times regularly.
- Complete DOT inspections.
- Communicates with the foreman and assessment team immediately if additional work is needed.
- Maintain a high level of productivity.
- Clock in and out of work orders correctly and accurate documentation of work performed.
- Accurately inform the parts department of parts needed.
- Report any concerns within the reconditioning department to management.
- Other tasks as requested.
Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:
Trailer Technician must:
- Have a basic knowledge of DOT guidelines and requirements as well as PM process and requirements.
- Have sufficient experience or proper training to perform basic air brake maintenance: Complete brake jobs, S-cam bushing replacements, brake chamber replacements and air valve replacements.
- Can diagnose lighting systems.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of spring and air ride suspensions. Proper alignment procedures, R&R torque arms, equalizers, and springs.
- Have a basic knowledge of axle wheel end assemblies including proper installation of hub and drum assemblies, bearings, seals, and races.
- Troubleshoot and repair all aspects of electrical wiring systems, including all lights, 7-way receptacles, interior lighting, and switches.
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to perform minor undercarriage maintenance and repairs. R&R crossmembers, ICC bumpers, spring hangers, dolly legs and bracing, etc.
- R&R GPS tracking systems.
- Documents all work performed in a clear and precise manner on all repair orders.
- Keeps his/her shop area clean, clutter free to promote a safe working environment.
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years' experience on Semi-Trailer repair or Voc-tech training.
- Certified DOT Inspector or 1 year of experience on class 8 trailers.
- Must have the proper hand tools and equipment that would allow a person to perform all the above tasks. Major shop equipment and large shop tools will be provided.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position.
