Job Responsibilities:
- Mentors, trains, and supervises technicians as needed
- Performs PM services on trailers, refrigeration units, and APU units
- Performs the following trailer repair/maintenance tasks plus others not listed:
- DOT/ FHWA inspections, meeting standard times for jobs performed
- Tire repairs and replacement
- Body, structural, rear door, and electrical repairs on trailers
- Welding of steel and aluminum
- Fabrication of various types of customer trailers and vehicles
- Brake replacement
- Anti-lock braking system (ABS) repairs
- Foaming of Refrigerated Trailers and vans
- Performs road service work when requested
- Performs service and repair of company vehicles
- Maintains a clean and neat shop
- Maintains confidentiality of all company information
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Completion of a high school education or equivalent; technical school graduate or equivalent; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous experience in trailer repairs, DOT inspections, ABS repairs, and steel fabrication is a plus
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance, trailer repair, or Technical Degree preferred
- 4 years of experience working on semi-trailer repair and supervision
- Holds a current Air Brake Certification in compliance with FMCSR 396.25 or has at least 1 year of verifiable experience with the ability to obtain Air Brake Certification
- Currently certified as a (DOT) commercial motor vehicle inspector in compliance with FMCSR or has 1 year of verifiable experience under a qualified inspector with the ability to obtain (DOT) commercial motor vehicle inspector certification
- Ability to work overtime during busy periods
- Demonstrate a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Considerate and respectful attitude toward both internal and external customers
- Excellent verbal communication skills in one-on-one and phone situations
- The successful candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Maintain an unrestricted driver’s license
- Successful completion of a forklift certification course
- Must possess a toolbox and a set of standard, metric hand and air tools
