The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Under the general direction of a supervisor, the candidate will provide administrative and staff support by managing budgeting, personnel, and business services for the program areas, conducting special studies and research projects, and managing office and support activities. These activities will include, but will not be limited to: • Assist in the preparation and administration of the annual budget and financial plan• Assist in the administration of document management and record retention activities• Assist in the preparation of public involvement materials related to design projects.• Coordinate and Assist in the preparation of SEQR materials for the Region• Assist the Regional Design Engineer in a variety of administrative tasks• Managing the purchase of goods and services• Managing personnel activities, including seasonal appointments• Managing office support activities• Preparing and revising work methods and procedures• Managing and performing staff services for program managers and staff• Supervising and administering small programs• Effectively communicating with a wide variety of people• Supervising professional and support staff assigned to the office by performing the full range of supervisory activitiesThe candidate will supervise administrative staff and may supervise professional staff assigned to the office. In addition, they may provide functional supervision over certain work activities and programs. Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.

One year of professional experience *; OR2. a Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a field related to the position being filled **Administrative Specialist 1: A bachelor’s degree ANDEither 1. Two years of professional experience*; OR2. a Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a field related to the position being filled** AND one year of professional experience*.*Professional experience must be performing the duties of the full performance level position.**Hiring agencies have discretion in determining whether a degree is related to the duties of the positionIf chosen, you may, at the agency's discretion, be appointed to a higher level.
