What are the responsibilities and job description for the BUS MONITOR-SUB position at Transportation Department?
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To assist the Bus Driver in maintaining a safe and efficient bus.
QUALIFICATIONS
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Must be 19 years of age
- Must have ability to perform occasional physical
- Demonstrate aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist bus driver in maintaining discipline of students on the bus.
- Sees that all students are seated while the bus is in motion.
- Assists students, including those in wheelchair, getting on and off the bus.
- Secures wheelchairs, seat belts, and any special seating on all children.
- Follows all safety precautions as prescribed by the Texas Education Agency.
- Assist the bus driver in seeing that students follow the Bus Riders Rules and Regulations.
- Operates the lift or assists in lifting students in wheelchairs as required in daily assignment (25 lbs or more).
- Display tolerance necessary for accepting supervision for and criticism of job.
- Work in harmony with supervisory, faculty, and peer personnel.
- Support and follow administrative and Board policy.
- Represent the school system to the community in a positive, professional way.
- Maintain a sincere, friendly attitude toward patrons.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EQUIPMENT USED
Bus lift, wheelchairs, special needs adaptive equipment, ramps.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Conditions/Environmental Factors
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; moderate lifting and carrying. Work outside and inside; work around vehicles and machinery with moving parts; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes.
Terms of Employment:
Work year established by the Board; salary according to current schedule.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.
