The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related components in trucks, heavy equipment, and other diesel-powered machinery. The Diesel Mechanic will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our fleet and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and software.
- Conduct engine overhauls, fuel system repairs, and emissions testing.
- Replace and repair faulty components, including fuel injectors, turbochargers, and cooling systems.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance and repair work performed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies to ensure a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors regarding repair status and parts requirements.
- Stay up to date with advancements in diesel engine technology and industry best practices.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in diesel mechanics preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic or in a related field.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
